This is a trip that Randy, Chris and I put together a year ago. As always, I took a notebook with me. However, that notebook was lost in Pittsburgh a few months later, and I hadn't transcribed anything. So I'm mostly working off the pictures I have saved. [Chris, Randy--let me know if I'm missing anything important in the narrative].

Basically, we all flew out and met up in New York. My first choice hotel was taken, but we found a decent hotel in lower Manhattan. Randy arrived first, and crashed at the hotel. Chris and I flew in a few hours later, and took the subway to the hotel to catch up with Randy.

One other thing--the picture quality isn't very good. My camera was definitely on its last legs (I've since bought a new one).

This small open-air theater was the center of a lot of commotion. Later, we found out they were filming for the movie Hitch

From Central Park, we walked to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As usual, I was more interested in the building than the art.

Then we headed to the top of the Empire State Building.

After that, we hit the UN. We went through a serious-looking security checkpoint, then waited in the lobby for a guided tour.

After that, we hit a buffet (and had drinks) at the top of a hotel at Times Square. [Chris, Randy--remember the name of the place?]

From here, I had the brilliant idea of hitting the Museum of Science. Unfortunately, once we got there we found out it was closed. According to my guidebook, it should have been open. Chris and Randy weren't happy with me.

Later (next day, I think) we finally made it inside the Museum.

Then it was back north again, to the Guggenheim. I love the interior, the exterior looks terrible.
